July was a month of highs and lows, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times, but it was a good time.
Elder and Sister Lewis, a Senior Couple serving a Family History mission here in Indonesia, were visited by her Sisters. They invited us to go with them to the National Museum. We had a great day.
Dinner with Sister Lewis' 3 Sisters and the Donalds at a fun fish restaurant
President and Sister Donald traveled to Bandung with us to witness a baptism and check on the missionaries.
A sweet family was baptized in Bandung while we were there. The Elders were happy to have President Donald there for the baptism.
Elders always love to eat!
Signed the MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) with UCP in Yogyakarta for the 2015 major initiative wheelchair project. Don, Heny and Simon will be great to work with.
The Lewis' stayed with us in our apartment their last night in Indonesia before they returned home
We were so blessed to be invited to participate in the dinner and testimony meeting as 2 senior couples, the Tucker's and Lewis' and 16 young missionaries completed their missions.
July marked the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month from mid June to mid July. At the end of the 30 days of fasting (no food from sun up to sundown each day), there are 7 holy days (Idul Fitri) when they celebrate. Very little business is done during Ramadan and nothing gets done during the holy days.
As the holy days began, Cheryle became very sick with dengue fever and was down for two weeks. The sickest she has ever been. During this same time, Sister Donald and one of the APs, Elder King, suffered with dengue as well. Sister Donald was hospitalized for 5 days.
We are so grateful that all three have recovered!
